Madeline & Tim’s Bright Summer Wedding at the UW Center for Urban Horticulture
Madeline and Tim’s August wedding at the UW Center for Urban Horticulture was a celebration filled with sunshine, laughter, meaningful details, and the most gorgeous garden backdrop you could ask for in Seattle. Their story began online six years ago, and as two proud University of Washington alumni, their connection to this venue runs deep. Tim even proposed on campus near the iconic Rainier Vista, making their wedding feel beautifully full-circle.
The Center for Urban Horticulture - part of the UW Botanic Gardens, is one of the most stunning garden wedding venues in the Pacific Northwest. Located in the heart of Seattle yet surrounded by 16 acres of lush greenery—and bordering the 74-acre Union Bay Natural Area—it offers the best of both worlds: vibrant nature and city convenience. With its mix of indoor spaces, tree-lined pathways, high summer grasses, courtyard gathering areas, and the picturesque Goodfellow Grove, it’s truly a dream for intimate outdoor ceremonies and golden-hour portraits.
Their August wedding day was bright, warm, and glowing with that signature PNW summer light. Madeline and Tim said their vows under the canopy of trees in Goodfellow Grove, surrounded by loved ones and framed by the garden’s natural beauty. Afterward, they slipped away into the tall grasses and garden paths for portraits while guests mingled in the courtyard for cocktail hour.

She has such an incredible gift for organization, communication, and all those behind-the-scenes details that make everything run effortlessly. Shine Events is known for creating beautifully curated and seamless experiences for weddings, nonprofits, brands, and milestone events—and it showed. Every moment of the day flowed so naturally thanks to her.
As the sun dipped lower, friends and family gathered in the courtyard and NHS Hall for a reception filled with heartfelt speeches, laughter, and some seriously fun dance floor energy. Madeline and Tim were surrounded by so much love, excitement, and joy—it was the kind of night that reminds you why weddings are truly magical.
